Upcycling Vintage Outfits to Rare Edgy Designer Clothing

Durga brand is all about slow fashion.

How a vintage Japanese kimono transformed into a high fashion designer outfit?

Just before Christmas a friend and mother of two friends, Francis, flew over from Miami with a garment from the 70's - a Japanese kimono with ripped arms. Her daughters had loved to play with this kimono with mothers heels when they were kids. It was a dear outfit with lot of history. I was given the opportunity to bring it back to life!

A month later artist Visual Susana asked me to make a cool sexy dress with an open back using the crochet expertise.

Inspired by the beauty of the fabric and the wishes of Susana, what used to be a kimono transformed into a one of a kind handcrafted chic Durga design.

Reuse Reduce Recycle!!!

Modelling and Photography by Kaja Kudre - a dear childhood friend, who used to help with sewing when we were teens. Her grace and beautiful personality is always inspiring! I would like to express my humble gratitude to a lifetime friend and magnificent woman :)
