You Were Born Original, Not a Copy - the SUN GODDESS PEACOCK COAT

“Modern capitalism needs men who cooperate smoothly and in large numbers; who want to consume more and more; and whose tastes are standardized and can be easily influenced and anticipated. It needs men who feel free and independent, not subject to any authority or principle or conscience-- yet willing to be commanded, to do what is expected of them, to fit into the social machine without friction; who can be guided without force, led without leaders, prompted without aim-- except the one to make good, to be on the move, to function, to go ahead.” ― Erich Fromm, The Art of Loving

Zoe Edge was one of the first artists I asked to paint a Goddess on sustainable hemp canvas within the PURE GODDESS project.

She decided to depict a bird for the Goddess theme, because for Zoe, nature is the closest representation of the Goddess/God.

Further, she decided to draw a peacock - the embodiment of uniqueness, integrity and true colors, since in modern Western societies people are more and more dressing monotonously, reminding of machines.

Weather it is the mass manipulation through media and marketing to wear dull clothes; general trend to lack originality, or if people are just afraid to look different in case they might be less lovable, I shall leave it for you to decide.

Considering the loss of the Zoe's favorite rebel artists like Bowie and Prince, Ms. Edge thought it was essential to draw a peacock with further meaning of being proud to show your true colors and celebrate uniqueness.

“Mature love is union under the condition of preserving one's integrity, one's individuality; a power which breaks through the walls which separate man from his fellow men, which unites him with others; love makes him overcome the sense of isolation and separateness, yet it permits him to be himself, to retain his integrity.” ― Erich Fromm, The Art of Loving

When I asked Zoe to send me photos of her art progress I was amazed by the synchronicity. I happened to be traveling in Myanmar in search of the traditional tribal hand weavers to combine the truly unique hand painted coat with equally matching sustainable material made out of pure love like Zoe's creation.

I sent her a message back that Peacock in Myanmar represents the Sun. Thus we named the coat The SUN GODDESS.

Under the majestic light, I hereby quote many powers that this piece of art holds.

‪Light‬ has always been a metaphor for ‪truth‬. When we say we can "see the light" we mean we can see the truth in a situation. When we talk about becoming "‪‎enlightened‬" we mean ‪understanding‬. As the supreme source of light the Sun is therefore a powerful symbol of‪ wisdom‬ and understanding. Only when we understand the situation do we have the power to ‪transform‬ it. The SUN light is associated with powerful energy‬, we are ‪‎brilliant‬ and shine‬ (Tarot card meaning of The Sun)

Peacock also carries the meaning of ‪‎nobility, ‪‎watchfulness, ‪‎holiness,‪ ‎protection while rejuvenating self esteem.

In Greco-Roman mythology the Peacock tail has the "eyes" of the stars.

Peacock represents resurrection, renewal and immortality within the spiritual teachings of Christianity.

Themes of renewal are also linked to alchemical traditions , since many schools of thought compare the resurrecting phoenix to the modern-day Peacock.

In Hinduism, the Peacock is associated with Lakshmi who represents patience, kindness and luck.

“I shall always remember how the peacocks’ tails shimmered when the moon rose amongst the tall trees, and on the shady bank the emerging mermaids gleamed fresh and silvery amongst the rocks…” ― Hermann Hesse, The Journey to the East

According to Chinese Taoism, peacock energy can help you on your spiritual path and breathe new life into your walk of faith. The Peacock is a symbol of the compassion of Kuan Yin (Chinese buddha) and the integrity that is possible in all religions. It is the watcher of all. The Peacock is a reminder to all of us to show our true colors.

When you buy ‪this one of a kind handmade coat you are contributing to slow fashion and sustainability , supporting the artists and artisans who put countless hours in creating magic from their heart and soul. The object holds that ‎positive ‎energy and it spreads.
